The best destinations to study abroad if you love watersports

Studying abroad isn’t all about work work work!

Consider spending your transition year abroad to study Spanish in Spain or French in France and you will not only improve your language skills ahead of your Leaving Certificate but also have the opportunity to have fun and participate in a range of activities.

On all of Stein Study’s study abroad courses, there is an extensive programme of sports and cultural activities and excursions on offer as optional extras, as well as free time (for students aged 15 plus) that allows students to do their own thing. And if your ‘thing’ is watersports, then we have your interest covered with our study abroad courses in a number of beach destinations in Spain and one in France.

If you are wanting to try surfing, or maybe you’re already a pro at it, you should consider heading to Cadiz or San Sebastian in Spain. On all of our courses in these beautiful Spanish resorts, you will get the opportunity to take Surfing lessons (at an additional cost). In addition, afternoon excursions include trips to the beach in summer time so you will get plenty of time to practice. There is also the opportunity to try Kayaking and this is often included in the schedule of afternoon activities of our courses.

In Antibes and in La Rochelle, France you can not only learn to surf but also try your hand at sailing with sailing lessons available to students (at an extra cost). Both of these towns have ideal sailing conditions for beginners.

Or maybe you just enjoy swimming and playing in the sea and if this is the case then Cadiz, San Sebastian, Antibes or La Rochelle are your study abroad destinations of choice. Click here to find out what Stein Study course options are on offer in these destinations by the sea.
