Class Per Week
Study aboard during your Transition Year in 2018 and improve your French language skills. This secondary school program in Rouen is run by the number one, award-winning French Language School in France called French in Normandy. Their teaching methods are being used all over the world to teach foreign students how to speak French.
Rouen is the capital of the beautiful and historic region of Normandy. Only 1 hr from Paris by train and famous for its art, cinema, fashion, food and culture. To top it all off, Rouen is close to the coast and the famous beaches of Normandy.
As part of the Secondary School Programme, students spend the first two weeks studying French, taught by highly qualified French tutors in our affiliated language school, French in Normandy. There are 25 hrs of classes per week included in the initial two weeks. These first two weeks are crucial in preparing students for their life as a student in Rouen. You will improve your French comprehension and expression before being completely immersed into your Secondary School Programme.
Following the initial two week period, students spend between two weeks and ten months in their allocated Secondary School. Here they will attend mainstream classes such as Science and Geography alongside native speaking students.
There will be an orientation included for each student to help them adjust to their new surroundings.
To make sure our students get the most out of the course, we include 3 x private lessons per week in French in Normandy. This allows students to improve their French at a faster rate. It also allows French in Normandy to keep in touch with students and check on their progress.
It's not all work work work though! During your stay, you will get the opportunity to join in with activities with your new friends, arranged by the language school including:
Visits to local Rouen museums
Visits to local radio or TV stations
Visits to Rouen’s horticultural gardens and other sights
And at weekends, the language school arranges excursions to:
Mont St Michel, WW2 Landing Beaches, Bayeux, Giverny, Etretat, Dieppe, Caen, Camembert
Theatre and cinema
Biking in the mountains
Don't delay, organise your Transition Year abroad now!

The Hosts chosen by French in Normandy are of a much higher standard than most other locations. As Rouen does not receive many language tourists, the Hosts are taking students for the right reasons.
We realise that Homestay accommodation is not for everyone. If you select this type of accommodation, you will need to be open-minded and realise that you may not benefit from all your creature comforts.
