Description

We are delighted to be affiliated with the F+U Academy of Languages, one of Germany’s biggest and most international language schools. Students will attend either twenty or twenty five German classes a week at this fantastic school located in the middle of Heidelberg’s city centre. The tutors here provide engaging lesson plans using the fantastic facilities available, including seventy classrooms equipped with multimedia resources. Each year, this school attracts international learners from over one hundred countries, making this an exciting and multicultural environment to learn German in. During the standard twenty lessons, students will improve their overall written and oral comprehension and expression rather than simply memorising key phrases. Students can opt to take an additional six lessons which focus solely on the Leaving Certificate syllabus and preparing you to sit your oral and written exams. Between learning German conversation skills during class and practicing with your friends and Group Leaders in your free time, your fluency will hugely improve by the end of this immersive trip.

Dates & Prices

The price list for twenty-five group lessons per week, accommodation, full board, transfers, activities and excursions is as follows:

4th June
Two weeks €1,199
Three weeks €1,799

Accommodation

We have chosen the central student residence for the group trip because similar to Ireland, most families in Germany live in the suburbs and students would need to commute each day.

A Stein Study Group Leader will also stay with students at the residence and organise group meal times, enforce and monitor the curfew and mentor students to achieve their goal during this trip ahead of Leaving Cert German.

You can share a double room with a friend or if you’ve travelled alone we will happily place you with another student. You’ll be provided with meals by your host family and the curfew for all students is 10 PM Sunday to Thursday and 12 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.

Meals are not included, however, there are facilities to cook and store food. The group organise to buy groceries together and experience independent living and shopping for food in Germany. There is also a supplement meal option that students can avail of, however, the group leaders have planned some activities around the evening mealtime to incorporate German culture and intercultural learning which we hope all students will participate in.

School Introduction Video

You can fly out on Sunday the 4th of June from Dublin airport with your group leaders and other group members.

The student residence in Heidelberg is self-catering so students need money for meals and socialising

You’ll need to arrange your own flights. But we will provide you with the details needed regarding the airline you’ll travel with, the flight number and flight times of your outgoing and return journeys to ensure you travel with your Group Leaders and fellow students.

Students can opt to share a room with a friend or can be placed with another student if they have travelled alone. Staying with a student who you didn’t know before your trip is a great way to widen your circle of friends while getting the chance to practice your language skills with new people.

Having a foundation of conversational German is beneficial to students going on any of our language courses but even less advanced students will see their fluency flourish in a short space of time during this immersive experience.

Students will stay with a welcoming host family who live a short distance from the F+U Academy language school. Each host family is previously vetted by the school staff.

Transfer between the airport and your host family’s home is provided on arrival and departure.
